THEN Almitra spoke again, And what of Marriage, master?

And he answered saying:You were born together,
and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

再一次好好地看這篇紀伯倫的詩，因為奧修的關係。
講婚姻關係的這首詩篇，寫得很美。
其中一段是這麼寫的：

「在你們的依偎中保留幾許空隙，
     讓天堂的風飛舞過你倆之間，
     相愛，但不使愛淪為束縛；
     願在你們靈魂的雙岸間，
     有著一片波動的汪洋。」

奧修還講到泰戈爾的一個小說故事：

有一位年輕女子和一位男士墜入愛河，很快地她們就想步入紅毯。
女子說：「我只有一個條件......」她是個素養很高的人，而且也很有錢。
那男人說：什麼條件我都同意，沒有你我活不下去。

她說：「先聽完條件，再好好想一想，這個不是普通的條件：我們婚後不同住一棟房子，
我有一塊土地，周圍是一座湖，湖邊長有樹木、花園和草地，我會在湖的另一端為您蓋一
棟房子，正好與我的房子遙遙相對。」

他說：「那為什麼還要結這個婚？」

她回答說：「婚姻不是為了摧毀彼此，我這是給您空間，也給自己空間。偶爾在花園裡散
步時，我們會不期而遇；有時候，我們會在湖中泛舟時遇到彼此。有時我可以邀請您一起
和我喝下午茶，或者您可以邀請我。」

男人說：「這個想法簡直太荒謬了！」

女人說：「那結婚就不必談了，這是唯一可行的方式，唯有如此我們才能繼續成長，因為
我們之間永遠保持新鮮感，才不會彼此視為理所當然。我有權利拒絕您的邀約，就像您有
權利拒絕我的邀約一樣，我們的自由絕對不容干擾。在兩人的自由之中，美好的愛才會滋
長。」

這男人當然無法理解，他放棄了。

天呀！這是什麼樣的意境呢？

讓天堂的風飛舞過你倆之間，願在你們靈魂的雙岸間有著一片波動的汪洋。
